Banding Together To Celebrate

Todmorden Community Brass are getting the polish out and preparing for their Annual Anniversary Concert on the 20th April, 7.15pm at Central Methodists.  This free concert is to celebrate the band achievements and to thank the people of Todmorden for their support all through the year.  All three bands will be playing, the Senior Band, Training Band and 5 Note Band, providing important performance opportunities for those who are just starting out on their banding careers.

In our 12th year the Senior Band Conductor David White decided to step down as Senior Band conductor – (so he could show us all how brass instruments should really be played!) but is still actively involved in the Five Note and Training Bands. We welcome our new conductor Pam Smith.  Pam has previously deputised for David and the entire band agreed she was the right choice to move forward with as we continue to provide a brass band & music learning opportunities for the local community.

The band has a recently relaunched their website and encourage local readers to find out more about the band here.  “With membership at just £1.25 per week for adults and just 75p per week for Under 18s, we continue to provide affordable musical learning opportunities for all.  The cost includes instrument hire too,” says Band Chairperson Liz Hinchliffe, “it’s a fantastic way to get into music; we pride ourselves in providing fun, enjoyable learning opportunities.”

So it will be business as usual on the 20th April – we look forward to welcoming everybody to the Central Methodists.  There will be home made cakes and refreshments in the interval and band members will be on hand to answer any questions you may have.  The concert is free but a ticket must be obtained from either the Tourist Information Centre of band members.
