Maurice Greenwood

Todmorden Community Brass Band are greatly saddened to hear of the death of Maurice Greenwood in Waterside Residential Home where he has been receiving palliative care over the last few weeks.

Maurice had played with Old Town Band for many years and was a founder member of Todmorden Community Brass Band in April 2001, where he played 2nd trombone and was also on the committee and the chairman for several years.

From the founding of the Community Band, he worked tirelessly to get the assets of the Todmorden Old Band returned to the town and he finally achieved this goal in 2004. With the band room in need of serious repairs, Maurice was then instrumental in organising fund-raising of £10,000 as well as taking charge of the building project and spending most weekends working in the building.

The refurbished band room was officially re-opened by Maurice in November 2005; a true servant to our community band.
